Who are Web Windows?
Web Windows is a media marketing company, commissioned by leading broadsheets, concentrating primarily on weekend colour supplements. We provide prime website advertising for web owners with a strong aim: to promote your website and generate more traffic towards it. By offering both a media and a creative service we consider ourselves as a hybrid advertising agency.
Our extensive knowledge of national press allows us to advise websites in ways in which maximum mileage can be had from limited budgets. Our approach is refreshing as we focus our efforts on gaining maximum response for clients.
Where does the Web Windows page appear?
Your advert will appear on the Web Windows page in the colour supplement of your choice. As Web Windows maintains excellent working relationships with national newspapers, the location of the Web Windows page within the colour supplement is always good. In the case of the following titles these are our usual positions:
- Sunday Times Magazine –Right hand page
- Saturday Times Magazine – Right hand page
- Observer Magazine – Inside back cover
- Guardian Magazine – Inside back cover
- Sunday Telegraph Seven Magazine – Facing Puzzles / Crossword
- You Magazine – Right hand page
- Independent on Sunday – Best possible
How important is it that my ad gets a good position on the page?
A few advertisers have theories that certain spots, for example top right or bottom left, yield a better advertising response. While some research has been carried out in the UK and the States to establish whether this is the case, very little hard evidence exists. Other factors like media selection, copy content and timing of your ad are much more likely to influence the success of your campaign.
The Web Windows format has been tried and tested over the last nine years. Irrespective of position, your Web Windows advertisement will be guaranteed to reach a huge audience of regular online purchasers on a day of the week when they will have time to visit your website. You’ll find our approach when dealing with us is very consultative as we advise you about which national newspaper has the best readership for your target audience and what represents the best value.
Can you guarantee response?
No, there will always be risks associated with advertising, but by offering cheap advertising rates, financial risks are kept to a minimum. Generally speaking the huge circulations offered by national press means the chances of generating an excellent response are much greater than with other advertising media. There are other ways of reducing the risk such as a series booking which ensures vital repetition of your advertising message.
Is series advertising necessary?
One-off adverts rarely work to the full expectation of the client. Experienced advertisers know that to get the most out of your advertising you need a minimum of three insertions. When considering a series of adverts, please note that we do offer even cheaper advertising deals as an added incentive.
What are the advantages of a larger advert?
If you would like your advertisement to dominate the page then it would be worth considering a double-panel or quad-panel ad. In any other part of the publication, a double or quad sized ad would easily run the risk of being over-shadowed by even larger display ads, but on a Web Windows page it will still have real impact. A number of people, upon seeing the size of the standard adverts on the Web Windows page, are unable to comprehend how they can get their message across successfully and for this reason feel they simply must take a larger space on the page. In our experience this really isn't necessary. The standard size of each of our adverts has been carefully chosen to provide the best possible balance between making advertising affordable and providing the maximum possible impact. There is no denying that larger adverts can allow you to get more information across but the old adage 'size isn't everything' certainly comes into play here. The most important factor is simply being on the right page which is where our sales team can step in to help. They can help you decide on the publication that would work best for your business, whether that is The Sunday Telegraph or The Independent on Sunday. Getting your ad in the right publication is infinitely more important than having the largest ad on the page.
How soon do you need copy?
There is a general misconception that copy deadlines are on the Friday prior to the Sunday. While this may be the case for certain newspaper sections, the colour supplements close for press much sooner. Increasingly colour supplements are printed in continental Europe and as a result the copy deadline can be as far as three weeks away at the time of booking.
What kind of copy do you require?
To ensure optimum print reproduction we require images of a resolution of 300dpi or higher. We can accept most image formats but PDF and JPG are preferred. When booking the advert, please ask your Web Windows representative on tips for adverts.
How do I pay?
Payment is taken by credit card either via the secure server on the Web Windows website or by phone with our office. By issuing these details, it ensures your booking on the page. Payments on your credit card are processed for each insertion prior to publication and an invoice will be issued on each insertion. Registered charities and companies based outside the UK will be exempt from VAT.
