In our opinion...
The great editorial content of The Times Magazine doesn’t disappoint the reader tempted by its glossy front cover and classy feel. An excellent quality publication, it’ll sit happily on the coffee table and be dipped into throughout the week for an engrossing read. Intelligently written features range from in-depth interviews with celebrated artists, photographers, fashion designers and culinary experts, to interesting behind-the-scenes visits to television or film studios for sneak previews of upcoming releases. It’s not just about the rich and famous however, as topical articles featuring ‘real people’ are also to be found – an ongoing feature highlighting the realities and financial implications of today’s university life follows a mix of students as they complete their first year, and makes interesting reading.
Regular content is varied and plentiful, and includes the ‘must-have’ topics of fashion and beauty, food and drink, and homes and gardens. Whilst less space is given over to the first of this trio, it’s still ample for the latest fashion trends for men, women and children to feature alongside beauty tips ranging from cheap and cheerful to totally self-indulgent, whilst an interesting ‘Salon Spy’ feature takes an undercover look at an unsuspecting salon. Weekly readers make a beeline for the impressive Food and Drink section, which provides a huge offering over 7 or 8 pages and includes inspiring but achievable recipes from celebrity chefs, together with wine reviews, taste tests on selected products, interesting food, drink and kitchen equipment buys, and oodles of interesting snippets and information. Those interested in matters of the home and garden can enjoy a weekly ‘Interiors’ glimpse, look at the latest offerings in furniture shapes and styles, and be inspired by practical and informative gardening articles and tips.
With regular columnists, touches of humour and an excellent balance of copy and good colour photography, this magazine attracts a varied readership.
